Meet the Coaches

Colm O’Reilly

Colm has been involved in Martial Arts since aged 9, and first heard about CrossFit in early 2005 when chatting with another Martial Arts Coach. Ignoring it for 2 years because “the programming didn’t make sense” to him, he finally decided to give it a shot in April 2007.

The workout of the day was Cindy – 20 minutes of pull ups, push ups, and squats. Suddenly it all made sense and Colm was instantly converted to a fan. Colm went about gathering every bit of CrossFit information he could find including devouring the CrossFit Journal, attending a number of affiliates abroad to see it in action, and booking himself on the next certification available.

Whilst awaiting certification Colm applied for affiliation, having no other CrossFit gym to train in. Colm was accepted as Ireland’s first affiliate based purely on his passion and promise to develop his talents as a CrossFit Trainer.

He attended his Level One certification in Orange County, California, in December 2007. Colm instructed at the first ever CrossFit Certification held outside the US in September 2008, and was awarded his Level 2 qualification afterwards.

  • BSc Sports Management (UCD) – 2005
  • CrossFit Level 2 Certified (September 2008)
  • CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certified (July 2009)
  • CrossFit Gymnastics Certified (August 2009)
  • Blue Belt – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (2003)
  • 7 Time National Submission Champion

Colm has a very relaxed and personable style of coaching, which helps put his clients at ease while learning new skills and correcting technique. You can reach him direct at colm@crossfit.ie or by calling 086-8151092

William Walshe

Heavily involved with cycling, martial arts and “messing around with weights” in his youth, Will managed to accidentally drink his way up to an unflattering 110kg while working towards his bachelors degree in physics.

After spending nearly two years finding nothing but frustration in traditional gym routines and dietary advice, and becoming mind-numbingly bored pounding away countless hours on the treadmills, he was beginning to think that he was just over the hill (at age 22) and would never regain the energy and sense of vitality that he had once enjoyed.

In late 2006, he happened across a website called www.crossfit.com

Coming from a scientific background, CrossFit’s no-nonsense attitude and emphasis on collecting measurable data about performance and health appealed to Will immediately.

From there Will has made the transformation from 110kg to 80kg and is currently ranked as the 6th fittest man in Europe as per the 2009 Crossfit Qualifiers.

These days, he’s 30kg lighter, fitter than he ever imagined he could be, and is driven by a desire to help anyone who will listen avoid wasting the time and effort he did on the utter nonsense that passes for advice in the “fitness industry”.

He has a weakness for medium-rare sirloin, and a worrying tendency for teaching strangers how to deadlift broomsticks at parties.

Will’s achievements to date:

  • Lost over 30Kg through CrossFit’s exercise and diet regime (from 110Kg to 80Kg)
  • Honours Physics Degree from Trinity College Dublin
  • Level One CrossFit Certified (September 2008)
  • CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certified (July 2009)
  • CrossFit Gymnastics Certified (August 2009)
  • 6th Fittest Man in Europe (CrossFit Games European Qualifiers 2009)

Will can be reached on 085-7554041 or by emailing will@crossfit.ie
