Kids Program & Coaches

CrossFit Kids Ireland uses a combination of skill practice, workouts and games to build strength and conditioning in children. Our classes include elements of gymnastics, weight lifting, body weight movements, running, jump roping, and more.

Specifically, CrossFit Kids Ireland teaches the 10 General Physical Skills. These skills are the base for any sport or discipline your child may pursue.

You will see your child have an increased ability to learn and succeed in other sports, once they have a base in CrossFit.

The 10 General Physical Skills

Cardiovascular Endurance – Can you get enough oxygen to your body?
Stamina – Can you get enough energy to your muscles?
Strength – How much can you lift?
Flexibility – Can you touch your toes?
Power – How much work can you do in the least time?
Speed – How fast can you go?
Coordination – Can you pat your head and rub your stomach?
Accuracy – Can you kick a soccer ball into the net?
Agility – How quickly can you change direction?
Balance – Can you stand on one foot? With your eyes shut?

Alex McGann has been teaching children since 2001 and has been a Crossfit member for a year and a half. Alex has been involved in a number of Summer camps which included sports and other activites.

Alex has a BA in Humanities in Montessori Education from St. Nicholas Montessori College, and has a keen interest in introducing children to the CrossFit way of life.

My working life has been dedicated to teaching children, and I look forward to introducing CrossFit Kids into that experience.

James Sunderland first began his coaching career in Taekwon-Do after attaining his black belt in 2007. He has completed an International Instructors Course in Taekwon-Do and has much experience teaching adults and children of all ages.

James completed the Certificate in Health, Exercise & Fitness from the University of Limerick in 2009. Shortly after this he began training in CrossFit. He certified as a CrossFit Level 1 Coach in 2010.

The coaches I had when I was a kid are in some part responsible for the passion I have for sport and fitness today. I want to try instil that passion in the children I coach.

Colm O’Reilly opened Ireland’s very first CrossFit gym back in September 2007, but has been involved in coaching since 1998. Colm established and ran “Clever Little Monkeys”, a martial arts school that used play-as-the-way to teach children’s martial arts and life skills which ran from 2003-2009, when Colm started operating CrossFit Ireland full time.

Colm has a BSc in Sports Management from UCD, numerous CrossFit certifications and is rarely seen without Oakleys perched on top of his head.

I really enjoy coaching kids and helping them realise their potential. Kids have such limitless energy and enthusiasm it's great to see!
