Olympic Lifting Workshop

CrossFit Ireland are hosting a one day course introducing people to the olympic lifts so they can take their training to the next level. Olympic lifting is a perfect blend of speed, power, strength, coordination, agility and accuracy, and helps develop these traits in everyone who practices them.

We believe that the Olympic lifts can be practiced by anyone, and try to remove the mystique around these fantastic exercises. Our course is designed to teach anyone how to begin practicing and developing their Olympic lifting technique, regardless of your current strength or fitness level.

What you will learn on the day:

  • A simple progression for warming up for the Olympic Lifts
  • The Snatch – moving the bar from ground to overhead in one fluid, fast movement. A great developer of co-ordination and balance.
  • The Clean – moving the bar from the ground to your shoulders in one fluid, fast movement. Fantastic for converting strength into power.
  • The Jerk – driving the bar from shoulders to overhead in one movement. The most powerful lift in barbell training.
  • How to analyse what’s going wrong with your lifts and how to fix them.

This course will be taught by Colm O’Reilly and William Walshe, who hold coaching credentials by CrossFit and the Irish Amateur Weightlifting Association. Colm has coached as part of the CrossFit certification staff and brought his clients to competition in the Irish Nationals. William currently has a 97Kg Snatch and 125Kg Clean & Jerk in Competition.
