INTRODUCTION TO BARBELL MOVEMENTS

CrossFit Ireland is hosting a one day intensive introduction to barbell training on Sunday, August 29th. This course is aimed at people who are interested in using compound lifts and basic gymnastics movements in their training, but can’t attend coaching sessions on a regular basis.

The Course will cover:

  • Introduction to the major barbell movements. Squat (Overhead Squat, Front Squat, Low Bar Back Squat); Deadlift; Press; Push Press; Push Jerk; Snatch; Clean. Introduction to Kettlebell Swings; Kipping Pull Ups; Ring Dips; Muscle-Ups; Handstands; Handstand Pushups.
  • Common Errors in these movements and how to correct them.
  • Form creep: What to look out for when training on your own.
  • By the end of the course you will have gained a basic understanding of the above movements, have a clear idea of what (if anything) you are doing wrong with each one and understand which drills and progressions you need to focus on in order to correct them over time.

The course is run by CrossFit Ireland coaches Colm O’Reilly and William Walshe. In addition to 100s of hours practical coaching experience, Colm and Will are certified in CrossFit coaching practices, and have completed multiple training courses on Olympic Lifting and Gymnastics.

Spaces are limited to 14 on the course to ensure each participant can get the attention and instruction they deserve.
