After the success of our Summer 5K Challenge last year, get ready to take part again!
We believe that being able to run 5Km is an important part of complete fitness, and after speaking to you during May we found that running was something people really wanted to get better at. This is your chance to invest some time and really see an improvement in ability in one key area of fitness.
Like every challenge we do at CrossFit Ireland, this is open to everyone and designed to be accessible for everyone, regardless of their capabilities. For some, it is about shaving a couple of seconds to a minute off their time, whereas for others it’s to be able to run 5Km for the first time ever that has long been an elusive goal of theirs.
Dates
The 5Km challenge will take start on Saturday, June 11th at 10am in Shanganagh Park, Shankill. It will conclude 6 weeks later on Saturday, July 23rd, with a repeat of the run to compare times.
Over the course of the 6 weeks, we’ll be incorporating more running into the workouts, providing extra information on running technique and strategy, and everything else we can think of along with all your favourite CrossFit programming.
Location & Course
The course is located here (Google Map) and a map of the course can be found here. The course is a flat, 2K run in a circle. 2 and a half laps for those wishing the complete the full 5K.
What if I can’t run 5Km?
If you can’t run 5Km and don’t think it’s even possible (remember all the things that were ‘impossible’ when you started CrossFit that you can do quite easily now?) please talk to your coaches. We want everyone who cares about getting fitter and in better shape to take part in this.
Entry fee
Entry to our 5K Challenge is completely free, so you’ve no excuse not to take part!
