  1. handstand push ups…. oh god… wonder how long will is gonna make us handstand for 21-15-9 of em… seeming it was 2mins the last time for about 5….haha. can see this one being an extra long session

  2. That gymnastics video is unreal!
Does anyone know why gymnastics is seen as a girlie sport here in Ireland? I saw an ad for gymnastics classes starting during the summer and it says girls only allowed, i dont get it. The strongest and fittest girls by far that i have met during my time working as an instructor are gymnasts, undoubtedly boys/men would benefit massively from the same training.

  3. I think it’s the floor event Ger. If gymnastics just consisted of the still rings, high bars, parallel bars, vault and the pommel horse everyone would think male gymnasts were total badasses. All that dancing around and striking poses makes people think its a girlie endeavor though.

  4. “Advanced class is on at 5.30 Eamonn. We close CFI about 9pm.”

Ah crap I was actually hoping for a cutoff. Gonna be a long session at the gym tonight.

  5. Mauro is a brilliant guy wt many skills. Was training in a gym a bit under him few years ago. nope, still can’t do what he did in the video thou.

Colm/Will, what’s the “mini Diane” for novices tonight? can only DL 60kg last time. don’t think handstand will work on a bad wrist.

  6. Will,
true enough, the posing lark isn’t exactly masculine. If they did away with that you’d have all the G.A.A heads and rugger buggers doing it!
I was showing a few 18-22 year old lads hspu the other day and it was basically just a bunch of lads falling about and banging their heads. I called over a 17 years old girl gymnast to demonstrate the hspu and she bangs out 5 perfect head to floor and fully locked out reps. She put them in their place!

  7. Mart,

We’ll have heavy deads and push ups as the novice workout. We can scale pretty much everything we do down here at CFI.
