Thank you
Thanks guys, brilliant day and it was great to meet those of you who I met.
Jimminy is my new hero.
Absolutely great day, I was kinda worried that because I wasn’t competing I might get bored standing around, not a chance, the day flew by! Was superb to watch such a display of grit and determination and effort. Awe inspiring stuff. Every single competitor from first to last can hold their head up high for not giving up, for pushing themselves to the bitter end, you guys, in a word, ROCK!
Congratulations to Dee, Lisa and Lorna and of course to Dominic, John and Jimminy, I’m happy to call you heroes and honoured to call you friends!
Highlights of the day for me, well I can’t but mention those amazing jerks from Stephen Weinmann in Workout 1, it was a pleasure to spot him, every single rep was picture perfect! The amazing work from John Belton with those front squats in the final workout and of course I don’t think anyone will forget Mike Crowley’s quote of the day and who knows when Pat will forgive him for that!
Thanks to the guys (Colm, Will & Tom) for once again hosting a great day. It’s days like this that cement the appeal of Crossfit and the great community that goes with it.
Well done guys for organising a brilliant day. For my first ever competition of any sort I can only describe it as AWESOME!
Well done to everyone who took part, and a special thanks to the people who weren’t competing but came to cheer us on anyway.
Despite Will’s “it’s just another day at the office” when Amro lead the congratulations on running a great event, we all know that it takes a huge amount of work, organisation and effort to host the Invitational and get it to run as smoothly as today. Well done to Tom, Colm and Will for hosting and running the best Invitational yet.
Being a veteran of all 4 invitationals along with Eamonn, Dee and Ed we’ve a unique perspective. From my perspective I think it was the best invitational yet, it seems to grow event on event and represents all that is good about crossfit and the community that it develops.
Where else can you go where you’re cheering on/being cheered on by a “stranger” you only meet 2 minutes before hand?
Today’s atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish.
From a personal point of view I’d like to thank my spotters James, Dominic and Lisa for all their support and encouragement throughout the WODs.
It was a pleasure to compete against all the CF regulars(ye all know who ye are) and it was great to see the newer members of CFI Rosie, Lorna, Michael and Roger take part – great stuff guys you should be very proud of yourselves (the first one is the hardest BTW)
It was also great to meet, compete against and spot the visitors who travelled the length and breath of the country, Scott from CF in NI, Padraic and all the crewe from Galway to name but a few.
It was also great to meet Stephen and Sophie who did fantastic in their events.
Congrats to the Podium finishers Dominic, John and our own Jimminy (at this stage I think we can claim Dominic as well!!), Lorna, Lisa and Dee – well done guys inspiring stuff!
As always these events give us a chance to catch up with folks we don’t see as often as we’d like – Dee, Ed and Amro – a pleasure as always
Well done all the supporters and people who came along to cheer or help (kudos Pixie) it means a lot to everyone who competes.
Finally I’ll leave you all with apologies if I’ve forgotten anyone, it’s not intentional, and the words of George Eliot “Any coward can fight a battle when he’s sure of winning, but give me the man who has pluck to fight when he’s sure of losing. That’s my way, sir; and there are many victories worse than a defeat.”
Tony, one in a million
Yesterday was amazing at the Institute. I couldnt believe how well everyone did, legends every single one of ye. The atmosphere was brilliant and I got to meet more sound crossfit junkies. The organisation as everyone has said was second to none, but I knew it would be….What a great day, great craic and great people… Crossfit Rocks. Awesome… Roll on Sep….Very proud to say I am part of Crossfit Ireland.
Thanks Will, Colm and Tom
Hey everyone, how we all doing after yesterday?
I’m just up in the Institute now and we’ve 6Gb of video and a ton of photos from yesterday. Getting shivers just looking at them again.
Will throw the photos up tomorrow morning on bookface.
My shoulders and neck are in bits, fine everywhere else. I suspect the DOMS just hasn’t set in yet!
Thanks to Colm, Will and Tom for a great day yesterday. I agree with Tony that it was definitely the best one yet. You guys are deadly! Thanks to my spotters Robbie, James and Garvan, your support was greatly appreciated.
Thanks to Lisa for pushing me to go as RX’d in all the workouts, I definitely would have taken it handy if you’d have let me!
Great to see everyone again and meet all the new faces. Is it September yet?!
Quads aren’t happy and I feel like I rubbed a cheese grater on my chest but I can’t wait to get back in the gym and start working on the long list of stuff on my suck list!
Guys and girls,
what a day, what an event and what a night out! thanks to CFI, it’s owners, members and everyone who came yesterday.
Special thanks to Dominic, what an athlete and what a gent!
only 20 weeks to go guys. who knows what could come up???
finally, there’s a discount for all CFI Invitational competitors this week on stair lifts… http://www.stair-lift-uk.co.uk/images/straight_stairlift_355.gif
Great day guys! A little secondhand today but not as bad as I would’ve thought. Great to see everyone again!
hey lads,
well the body is fairly sore now today, but it was well worth it. if it was on next week id so it all over again. was by far the most challenging and hardest thing if ever done. wanna say thanks to pixie, ed and pat for encouraging me and pushing me in the exercises, and everyone else who shouted for me aswell, ye made it that bit easier. thanks to colm, will, and tom for putting together and excellent day, that ran so smoothly, it was a credit to ye lads. was a great day meeting eveyone and great craic. bring on sept is all i can say……..
Also forgot to thank to Pixie, Lisa and David for spottin’ and encouragement. Well done to Dominic, John, Jimminy and everyone else. I’m with Mike on this, bring on September!
Woke up this morning feeling like I’d been hit by a train!! I will defiantly be intending to get down again in September all being well, and I am sure I will be joined by other members of Crossfit NI.
Again I extend my thanks and gratitude to Will, Colm and Tom for a fantastic event. Great WODs that really tested everyone. I would also like to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome.
Well done Dom, John and James, great performances. James performance in the last WOD was inspiring!! Counting the days!! I hope 80 hasn’t become the new 70 by then!!!!!
Well well, the day after. I was expecting pain, and I got it! Just taking it one movement at a time.
I would like to say that I really really enjoyed the day yesterday. It was great to experience the environment and community spirit that is already evident on these pages, everyone was brilliant helping out, screaming encouragement, giving advice, cleaning your blood off the bar (sorry and thanks will!).
The spotters were all excellent, I had Dominic, David S and Will. Really pushed you on and helped you excel. Like when David told me “C’mon theres 10 Burpee Pull Ups up next”….call that an incentive?! What!
Best thing was meeting all the new people who are passionate about Crossfit, great to be with like minded people.
Thanks again to everyone, especially Will, Colm and Tom for making a great day possible.
