A Breathing Technique to Help With Asthma – NY Times
Caveman vs Modern Human: Who Would Win Olympic Gold? – Live Science
All the workouts this week compare to something earlier in the year. With only two weeks til Christmas, what workouts would you like to see programmed that you want to compare yourself on?

I’d like to do the 2 WODS in a day work out again. I really enjoyed that.
Have nice tacky Star for top of Christmas tree. Will bring down tis eve
I might give wod2 from the invitational a bash at some stage, see if i can add a 0 to my 1 rep with the new hugeness
Those cup cakes look delish!!!
I remember this WOD, it nearly killed me back in August… nearly. Lucky its a rest day, cause I’m bate out.
I’d like to give the 20kg 200m overhead lunge a go.
or
like Eamonn said, Invitational WOD 2
the lunge wod nearly destroyed all our bumpers,so we’d have to introduce a no lashing them on the ground rule.
We’ve a nice double metcon week in january but a double metcon day would be fun before christmas.
Keep those suggestions coming,do you really want to leave the next few weeks misery entirely in my hands?
Like that article on asthma & breathing. I know from being an asthmatic myself that it can have a big effect on you playing sports. Still have to use an inhaler before the WODS now but at least I don’t need to use those steroid tablets to assist breathing like I did when I was younger.Have to say Crossfit has had a good effect on my asthma. It could be a combination of things being fitter, the fish oil, magnesium or vitamin D but so far this winter I have not being waking up with a real wheezy chest & cough like I used to.Long may it continue! Those cupcakes do look delish!
I’d like to give Murph a go, there I’ve said it and I’m not scared… *whimper*
I used to see a Buteyko practicioner, 10 year ago; it’s definitely worth a try for anyone with asthma. Mine is infinitely better these days. Possibly I just grew out of it, but I reckon all round better eating and exercising has definitely helped.
D’indo tackles the important issues of the day. Mince pie reviews on page 25.
Couldn’t see the aul article on mince pies, but did see articles on foam rollers and kettle bells. Us aul Crossfitters are sooo ahead of the posse
Oohh! pink kettlebells

Do I want to ask what a burpee pull up is? Will the cupcakes be in the gym later as a reward for remaining alive following the metcon?
Aww the ‘ladies pink kettlebells’ only go up to 10kg! Do they think ‘ladies’ wouldn’t be able to handle more?!
My very first workout was ‘The Chief’ and it nearly killed me. Fresh outta the essentials class and into that…so that gets my vote!
Also when will cupcake sampling be taking place-they look yum!
I would like to test a sitting around and getting drunk in the gym wod. I mean its revolutionary and never been done before…….
(awaits backlash from Colm)
A burpee pull up involves a normal burpee and at the jump you grab the pull up bar and complete a pull up…they’re fun!
And Marianne, cupcakes!! Damn you messing with a poor man on 99 days of the Paleo/Zone challenge!
Tom Gannon=broadening modal domains to their logical limit.
Damn right Tom. Although I think Reilly himself added that modal domain back when he was being interviewed by Kstar. Time for the getting hammered cert methinks.
The trailer for the Mikko Salo documentary looks like it’ll be bad ass! I’m not going to hide it anymore I with Big Shane and having a serious man crush on Mikko!

Mikko Salo documentary? Is that what they’re calling this years games dvd?
Jebus, they must be following the poor lad around with a camera 24/7
I was reading about it before, they have him doing the 2008 games events in one day on it. Be interesting to see his times.
2010 games site is up now
I was asthmatic as a kid and had an inhaler and the whole deal. Like Louise, I think age made a difference, it just seems to have faded over the years. Also I’ve improved my diet a lot.
In hindsight I wonder if the idea of ‘being asthmatic’ and wheezy and whatnot doesn’t become a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy, maybe the excuse of being asthmatic results in people bowing out of or dodging physical activity sometimes, and that means the symptoms are exacerbated overtime because they’re just very unfit?
Word of thanks for Marianne for the cup cakes – they were delish!!
Also a word of congrats for Pixie who is 99 days into his 100 day paleo/zone no cheat challange. It takes serious commitment and mental fortitude to do, congrats, you deserve all the plaudits and much back slapping. I tip my hat to you sir
Thanks very much Tony, appreciate it. It hasn’t been easy but I’m very glad I’ve done it, as I was telling the lads I’ll be finished at 10 tonight (as that’s when I started 100 days ago) so it’s steak and chips for me for dinner, yum! And I decided I’m having mushy peas as well!
But thanks to everyone who offered encouragement, advice, recipes and support throughout the 100 days! Now it’s time to figure out the next challenge…
Oh and the cupcakes looked fab Marianne! I took one for Anna and I’m going to steal a bite after 10!
How about a 100 Day No-Douchebag Challenge? Or a 10 Day? Or a 10 Minute?
Big props to Mags & Louise for the cupcakes. The standards of cupcakes just keep getting higher and higher. Good work.
No afternoon class tomorrow or Monday.
Ops sorry forgot to thank Louise – thanks Louise
are all the cakes gone?
