thanks Colm, i’m gonna ring my A game today!
“bring” not “ring”
Yay jumping on boxes. I was waiting for this one as I missed it the other times it appeared.
The Washington Post’s Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to take any word from the dictionary, alter it by adding, subtracting, or changing one letter, and supply a new definition.
Me like this one:
NO 12. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day consuming only things that are good for you.
Quick question regarding the zone lads. How many meals a day do ye have? Is there a “specific” number as per the zone methodology? Personally I have been eating at the following times and utilising the following blocks:
16 blocks ( 4 Breakfast, 4 Lunch, 4 Dinner, 2 x 2 block snack)
4 block Breakfast @ 8.30
1 block Snack @ 11.30
4 block Lunch @ 1.30
1 block Snack @ 3.30
4 block Dinner @ pre/post WOD depending on work and training time
2 blockSnack @ 10.30
Am I allowed to break one of my 2 block snacks into two 1 block snacks? Am I eating too frequently? If anyone can share some insights I’d appreciate it. Thanks.
To be honest Pat it’s completely your call, the 16 blocks is your daily allowance, how you spread it out over the day is your call, I have 4 x 4 block meals as that works for me, then other days I’ll have 3 x 4 block meals and 2 x 2 block snacks. It’s basically all down to what suits you and how you’re feeling.
Just had my first lecture in the module “Food, Diet and Health”. Suffice to say I’m now fully aware of the dangers of saturated fats and how, seeing as I’m physically active, I should be consuming 12+ portions of healthy grains and pastas a day. Gotta carbo load ya know?
And Mr. Atkins, who is actually a fully qualified medical doctor so should be referred to as Dr. Atkins, is wrong. No explanation, he is just wrong. We’ve got a specified lecture on “Fad diets” coming up in a few weeks, I’m looking forward to that one.
Pixie: Thanks, I’ll stick with what I have going at the moment so.
Bobby: Sweet delicious brainsss… I mean grainsss…
Ha, everybody knows Atkins was wrong! I bet each and every f*cker that says that has never read the book.
I guess we should at least be amazed that you’re getting what sounds like upwards of 2 lectures on nutrition in your course Bobby. As near as I can tell, that puts you ahead of most previous generations of doctors.
In fairness, Atkins was wrong about a whole bunch of stuff. That carbohydrate restriction thing was right on the money though.
Pixie Will was telling me last night you might be putting in an order with Iherb soon? If so can you give me a shout? Will was telling me the benefits of taking a magnesium supplement for asthma so might order some. Will throw you the required sheets for it.
Cheers
Pixie,Pat
Out of interest what does your average meal & snack consist of in a 16 block daily allowance?
I’ve a whole module on it Will actually, though it is optional and only a handful of my class are taking it. Probably for the best really, I’d rather people hear less of the nonsense.
Hey Paddy,
Pixie will have loads more info regarding meals and snacks but since I started last monday I have been eating 3 meals and three snacks per day. 4 blocks at breakfast, lunch dinner, Two 1 block snacks and one 2 block snack for a total of 16 blocks per day
Example – Yesteday I ate
Breakfast: 4 egg scrambled egg, 1 apple, 1 orange, tsp butter with scambled eggs (4P, 4C, 4F)
Snack: 1/2 apple, 3 almonds, 1 oz / ~30 grams chicken breast
(1P, 1C, 1F)
Lunch: chicken/tuna salad (lettuce, tomoato, peppers, onion) with olive oil (4P, 4C, 4F)
Snack: 1/2 apple, 3 almonds, 1oz / ~30 grams chiceken breast
(1P, 1C, 1F)
Dinner: T-bone steak, brocolli, mushrooms, onion
(4P, 4C, 4F)
Snack: Cottage cheese, handful nuts and seeds mix, grapes and blueberries (2P, 2F, 2C)
All quantities are zone quantites as per the Cross Fit Journal Issue 21. I plan to weigh and measure for another week and then I think I should have my measurements pretty much down and hopefully will be able to measure by eye.
Hey guys,
I really don’t have the nerve to do the box jumps and have the scare to prove it
I really wana do the medcon, so will I be allowed try something else?
Sure, we’ll figure something out Sue.
Thanks for the info Pat
My vote would be for clean high pulls Sue. Hopefully of the heavy variety.
FWIW Pat, I prefer to have five or six meals a day on the zone, the bulk of them are 3 blocks.
mmm… thrusters
Hate them..!
I think im going to start a complaints corner in my Gym. My general manager watched the every second counts DVD and decided that it is glorified circuit training to a point. Then I got an amazing e-mail from a good friend and trainer who is currently in Oz
In Byron at the mo, hqammered. Heading to Sydney to get in shape. Hows the pt thing workin out for you? Crossfit ireland? Are you serious, its basically just a place for endurance dick heads who think they know what they’re talking about. Basica…lly jocks who didnt go to college but think that the army is gonna answer all their questions!. By the way, cross-fit is a fad! You do know the guy who founded cross-fit is the most obtuse cock in the world-by the way he is an idea stealer! DONT FOLLOW THE MORONS!
Loving the coments from people who dont even have the balls to try crossfit (exception was phill the trainer in Oz). When asked to do it they dont have the time. Again from people who think that 20min workouts are bullshit.
