  1. Haha, 30 muscle ups for time for a bunch of people who’ll be all grumpy and headachey. I love it.

  2. Really should have fleshed out that post a bit, so apologies as I’m still a bit zombie-fied from the weekend.

We can scale this if you ain’t got a muscle up yet. If you do, I strongly, strongly suggest taking your time on this workout.

Ruairi asked the question at the cert if you should do the 30 even if it takes 30-40 minutes. The answer from John Brown of CrossFit Agoge http://www.crossfitagoge.com/ (should be WFS) was that for once, sure, knock it out as you’ll feel a great sense of accomplishment.

So if we can accommodate that length of time on the rings for you guys we will.

Now, I’ll go find some links for you guys.

Amy’s friend started asking her what the zone was on Facebook so I went in search of simple articles on the subject. Here’s two I found.

  4. I’m going to have a shot at this as RX’d, my second attempt. Last time I tried one rep every 30 seconds and the result was that I did about 13 reps in around 13 minutes and then hit complete failure…. after five or six failures in a row we called it a day.

This time I’m going to space out the reps and I’ll estimate now that this will take me 30 mins +.

    Should be fun, though.

  5. Tape on the wrists will help Eamonn.

Or, if you’re bored and off work, you could pop into an outdoors store and purchase some chalk. I’d reimburse you for it of course.

Ruairi, if you’re back at the ranch before CrossFit and there’s a package for me could you bring it up? It’ll be the chalk I’ve ordered.

  6. If you can’t do 30, or 1 muscle up or have never done them before what are the scaling options?

  7. Colm, I’ve a packet of chalk at home for the gym, I’ll bring it up with me tonight.

Oh and in the spirit of the paleo challenge that I’m having no part of I ate a big slice of raspberry cheesecake at lunch.

  8. Bobby, thanks. What time will you be up at?

Pat, there’s a scale that Tuck showed us at the Cert that you can do. There’s also partner assisted muscle ups.

  9. hi folks, i’m gonna do the 100 days zone and paleo…though i see my making mistakes as i will eat foods that i think are paleo by accident while i’m learning. i was gonna spend the weekend just gone preparing meal plans but got busay instead. dunno when te cheats will be yet

  10. No problem coach, though some little gymnast is crying now because I stole her chalk. I’d say the 7pm class.

And for a celebration workout I’d like to try “The Kyle”.

  11. Love it cant do muscle-ups. Tryed from knees on floor up to dip position then dip. still was a hard work-out. 14.58min. How about FRAN FOR SATURDAYS WORKOUT?????????

  12. Didn’t want to suggest Fran as it sucks so damn much but yeah, screw it. Let’s do Fran, see if I can get my sub-8 time before I hit med school on monday.

  13. Cheers Robbie, I got into UCD which was my first choice. Looking forward to it alright, it’s going to be tough but it’s what I’ve always wanted to do.

  14. I don’t think anything scares me more than Fran. I’ve only done it once quite soon after starting CF and it has given me the willies ever since. Godamn thrusters.
