Are those strict shoulder presses in the first WOD?
Aye Pat, your nemesis.
Son of a…. the nemises list is growing longer….. Over head squats, strict shoulder presses, snatches, the guy with the stupid laugh at work….
So anybody thought about what weight they will do the first WOD at!
Having not done linda before how do you fit everyone in. I see a logistics problem if everyone needs 3 bars? I don’t think deadlifting my strict press weight will fly.
And I’m with Scott. Utteraly clueless as what weights to use. Would a certain percentage of 1RM be advised?
Eamonn,
The clue is in the title “Single bar Linda”
Eamonn, this aint really Linda. The clue is in the name: “Single Bar Linda”
You get one bar, same weight for each exercise and get to work. This version is limited by the shoulder press for a reasonably normal person, the power cleans and deadlifts are there primarily to annoy you.
My hunch would be to pick about 60% of your best shoulder press to finish inside 12 minutes.
Oh, and go eat something Eamonn.
Single Bar Linda, ah right I missed that. I had scrambled eggs and a good portion of diced beef for breakfast Will, washed down with some cow’s milk naturally enough. I figure that’s a step in the right direction.
Sounds great, now quit tellings us about stuff you ate earlier and go eat something
40kg was the rx’d weight Eamonn when it first came up on the CFNI page. I got it out in under 12 minutes with that the last time I did it.
Agreed Will!
40kg Bobby, that’s pretty good going. I can rep out 40kg pretty well alright but 10,9..2,1 is 55 reps which is ALOT I don’t know if I can manage that many. I might give it a go all the same though.
8:11@ 20kg. I like that workout. I probably sandbagged a bit until the 6s though. 20kg felt very light at the start but was struggling with the presses by the end.
anyone esle think it was a disgrace that the “winner” of the rose of tralee didnt even do a party piece?
Tony – 9:45 as rx’d; 4:45
Stee – 11:13 as rx’d; 4:35
Stephen – 10:05 as rx’d; 4:47
Eoin O’K – 6/5PC (30Kg); 5:47
Peanuts – 7/6PC as rx’d; 4:27
Damien – 3s/ 2DLs as rx’d; DNF
Cian – 3s+2DLs (30kg); 5:37
Pat – 4s + 1 Press; 5:08
Lisa – 5s + 4 DLs (15kg); 6:52
Rob – 5s (30kg); 6:06
Sue – 5s + 4 PCs (20kg); 5:30
Essentials
5 x 200m run/10 Push Jerks
Conor – 7:17
John – 8:10
Brendan – 9:33
Jim – 10:13
Marcus – 9:?? (took off on a 6th run by mistake)
Ting-Li – 9:?? (ditto)
Hey Colm,
for the record i thought my time was 9:55 and i was last in the second WOD at the 5 class with 4:47, Stephen was 4:45
one bar linda with 40kg – 9mins 40secs. resorted to push press after tuesdays push jerk wod that i done
run/jump wod in 5mins 39secs
Banana nut beer? WTF?
So how does this one rate, lung-burner wise? Linda is my nemisis and I’d like to work more on her, but I only have two bars so this might be interesting.
Kyle,
hard to say, depending on what weight you chose really. At 40kg it becomes an issue of pressing ability really. The deadlifts are there to anoy you and the power cleans are light but if you begin to stall on the presses you’ll find yourself doing a good number of additional cleans which beings to fatigue the forearms. You’ll be forced to rest at times. As a lung burner I’d say it’s at the lower to middle end of the scale, you won’t be gasping for 5 mins after it.
Then again what the hell do i know maybe other people see it differently
Well’s banana bread beer, Kyle… It would be a good one for you too.
