My botched sttempt at a After-Workout Group Shot. These seem to be fairly popular at other affiliates. Do you think some of the photos we show are too intimidating to people unaccustomed to CrossFit. What are you favourite photos?

  1. the one with STRONG FUNNY DRUNK written backwards on the floor in sweat is pretty damn cool

  2. Thanks Tony for the ‘heads up’ yesterday. I got rid of the quotes in ’20″ Box’and it worked a treat.

Feeling the complete muscle failure already, looking at 100 push-ups for today ;-)

  3. As much as i tried, i can’t read that “how to be awesome” link without laughing. I keep seeing Kung fu panda “it is said that his enemies would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness!” and “there is no charge for awesomeness…..or attractiveness”

Following on from Garvan’s post of last night how many Dubs do we have? We’ve clearly established that Mr Walshe is a Dub dispite his apparent identity crisis. I think a team work out practice deathmatch prior to Langerfest could be an idea?

  4. i’m looking forward tot he dead lifts today then i noticed the push ups

  5. To split teams into categories, I propose we have two captains, and they pick their team, much like a NFL Draft, or a child’s game of rounders.

My Proposals for Captains are Tony and Bobby, for obvious reasons.

Speaking of rounders. Next Sat I was planning on having us all meet up at the Hellfire club car park or will we do a Sports Day in Tymon Park? (Potato Sack Races, Three Legged, Jockey Back Races, Wheelbarrow, etc)

  6. Old man,

I’m not a Dub. I reckon we can split the teams like that, munster people think anyone from leinster is a dub so no matter how we split the teams they’re going to say its Dublin vs. Cork.

  7. aye i’m from Wicklow and proud of it , colm that sports day looks lot of fun

  8. This is exactly what those Langers want lads, us fighting amongst ourselves while they focus on their team spirit.

  9. I’m from Bobby country although I didn’t acquire a liking to rusty gates like himself.

  10. Hi Guys,
Sorry i have not been down to the gym but I am sick again third time this year (Not Swine Flu).I will return asap,
as one of my work colleague’s has pointed out the return of my Double Chin :( .

  11. Sports day sounds good, hopefully I can make it. I am an excellent wheelbarrow and jockey back for the the obvious reasons of not drinking enough milk.

  12. I hear Scott has the swine flu.

I’m well up for that Sports Day idea as long as it isn’t this coming Saturday, I’ve already signed up to play in a tag rugby tournament.

  13. I just had some Eddie Rockets aka Empty your pockets for lunch. For the Zone/Paleo concious the ‘hamburger in a bowl’ is pretty good.

However having more concern over my deadlift performance later rather than fretting a little aul insulin spike I also threw in some Cheese & Bacon Fries and an Oreo Cookie Milkshake.

  14. I object to the Burger in a Bowl on the grounds that they charge you €1 more just to remove the bun, but other than that, good eating Eamonn.

Tony, I pretty much picked that link for the title alone. There was another one about showing up and being consistent, but hey, who doesn’t want to be awesome?

  15. Eamonn, never mind that Eddie Rockets lark. Go to Ricks on Dame street and order a double decker.

  16. “munster people think anyone from leinster is a dub so no matter how we split the teams they’re going to say its Dublin vs. Cork”

It’s funny because it’s true! What’s a good target for 100 press ups (for mortals, not mikko salo)?

  17. Next time I’m out in town Ed I’ll make sure to stop by. Keep being awesome guys.

  18. Garvan, the results from the last time 100 Push Ups was prescibed:

    Pixie: 75-80-80(f)-80-80(f); 13:24

Funnily enough that day also has one of my favourite photos, the now infamous Peanuts “WAH!” photo! :)

  19. Sorry Eamonn, but it’s a great photo and captures perfectly what burpee box jumps feel like! Oh and as it’s Push Up Thursday here’s a link from the Art of Manliness with 35 different kinds of push ups, I reckon Will should try the Aztec Push up, looks fun! :)

  20. Yes. Yes Wil should do the Aztec pushup. And someone should get it on film. Maybe multiple copies. For posterity.

  21. C’mon Walshe, give the people what they want Tabata Aztec pushups with a weighted vest!

Actually, they’re not as impossible as they might seem. I managed to get up and slap my feet but landed on my knees on the way back (I suck at pushups).

  22. Awesome link Tony – “There is no charge for awesomeness… or attractiveness!” Gonna go watch Kung Fu panda now!

  23. Am I just a dick, or are Aztec pushups quite easy? Think I did about 5 in a row there.

    Dale: 170, 8:06

    Robbie: 135, 9:14

    Damien 130, 8:03

    Eamonn C: 100, 7:28
    Bobby: 140, 7:34
    Pixie: 150, 7:38
    Sue: 75, 9:40
    Paddy: 90, 89 in 10mins
    Sofia: 69 in 10 mins
    Big Shane: 160, 6:10

    Essentials:
    15-12-9
    Split Jerks
    250m Row

    Eoin: 6:40 (40kg)
    Eve: 8:45 (9.5kg)

  24. People deadlifting more than 100kg’s……… You all must of cheated, especially big shane,

  25. Thanks very much Tony, the ol carrying less weight apparently helps with bodyweight exercises! :)

Think it was actually less than 7:38, as I’m fairly sure I finished a couple of seconds before Bobby.

Course Big Shane cheated, he’s closer to the ground than you Tom so he isn’t lifting it as high as you, from now on Big Shane has to do his deadlifts to chest level! :D

  26. nah, have him do them from a stack of bumpers. He should squat in stilts too!
