  1. Double D says:

Lads thanks for the link.Sue thanks for the workout.

  2. Pixie says:

Yeah where the hell is Tony, I’m starting to think I’m good at CrossFit I need Tony to come back and put me in my place! :)

So yeah it’s my cheat day today (as of midnight!) but I’ll probably pop down to the gym to carefully study the effects of dangerous amounts of sugar on my WOD performance, I can only imagine it will be magnificent!

  3. Pixie says:

Oh and as a p.s. in regards to Colm’s link, has anyone seen that guy Jacinto on the CrossFit Journal, guy is 69 and is just an amazing dude!

  4. Sue says:

Ah ! I won’t be scolding anyone today, unless your weight blows away in the wind, if we do it outside :-)

    It’s a nice work-out, I liked it.

  5. Bobby says:

Tony’s in the home. It was time.

  6. Paddy says:

Those of you who have done this WOD before is it as nasty as it looks?

  7. Dale says:

its a new WOD so yes i reckon it is nasty

  8. Bobby says:

I did it a while back Paddy, it’s a tough one alright. With 15kg I got it in around 14 minutes or so, 14:26 to be exact I think. It’s tough cardio-wise but I don’t remember feeling too sick during it. The runs are tough though.

Just read a CFJ article about the games there. Speal apparently got 106 Pullups in a row recently. If you strapped him to a bar I wonder how many he’d be able to get out?

  9. Pixie says:

I think science will soon discover that Speal is actually a perpetual motion device, it you strapped him to a bar he’d slowly get faster and faster until he defied physics, then the universe would implode.

  10. Bobby says:

Keep him away from the straps then…

  11. eamonn says:

If you look at vids showing up on the games site of speal the past few months doing pullups it looks like zero effort to him. Not sure if I’m a fan of the butterfly kip though. I can’t do them so I can’t compare but they look like less work.

  12. padraic colhoun says:

hey all.. interesting article. thought it might merit a share.

  13. Sue says:

Hmm… I have Fives song ‘If you’ve got the feeling…’ roaming around in my head at the moment ! I wonder where I could have picked that song up ???? :-)

  14. Pixie says:

Paddy, I’m just back from doing that WOD and finished it in about 14:30 I think, can’t remember exactly, which is an improvement of about 2 minutes on the last time I did it. As Bobby said the runs are killer and I found my left side to be a lot weaker than my right, Colm was pointing out to me that I got the two 15 sets on my right side done in 1 minute whereas the left side took me 2 minutes. Resting doesn’t help on this one, best to take one or two breaths and just keep grinding through it, good WOD though I enjoyed it! I enjoyed the Eddie Rockets and ice-cream afterwards a lot more though, thanks Colm and Amy! :)

  15. Colm O'K says:

just looking at yesterdays wod and im wondering did i do .8 of a mile instead of .8 of a km. I dont think i would have won, but im a pretty fast runner so im surprised that i finished so far behind everyone else. Even taking out the split time for my last run (about 3.30) and the walk from the treadmill and back (maybe 2min) im a good bit of the pace.

  16. Colm says:

    Pixie – 14:33
    Robbie – 14:55
    Arlene – 13:06 (10Kg/12-6-3)
    Damien – 14:10
    Jeff – 14:13
    Garvan – 12:13
    Margaret – 15:11 (10Kg)
    Eamon C – 14:42 (10Kg/400m row)
    David – 10:19
    Karl – 11:43
    Paddy – 15:32 (10Kg)
    Sue – 14:49 (10Kg/7.5Kg)
    Brian – 15:57 (5Kg/7.5Kg/10Kg)
    Sofia – 15:08 (5Kg/1 run, 2 rows)

  17. Bobby says:

Colm I’d imagine it was your pullups. And if you broke up the thrusters at all then you’re going to be slower than either Shane, Ruairi or myself as we all did them unbroken.

For comparison I did the run in around 3:05, the thrusters unbroken and did 15 pullups in a row before falling off the bar. If you weren’t getting a good kip on the bar and a quick set of thrusters you simply couldn’t get it done quickly.

  18. Bobby says:

Nice times on the WOD guys, I take it they were done at 15kg?

  19. Colm says:

    Sure were Bobby.
