I’m better at double unders than that, i swear! The rope was too long, wind resistance was too high, my brain doesn’t work until 12pm, I had vertigo…!
I know that it clashes with the invitational but have yous thought about holding a “The Tactical Strength Challenge” at the gym?
The TSC is a three event competition:
A three-attempt powerlifting deadlift
Pullups (strict with neck/chest to bar) for max reps
Kettlebell snatches for max reps in a 5:00 time period
The next one is scheduled for September 26 but can be held within two weeks to be included in the international ranking.
See http://www.tacticalstrengthchallenge.com/ for full details and rules.
Nobody can do double-unders Ed, it’s a proven fact. They’re a silly, non-existant exercise. Like handstand pushups.
From that site
“The 10kg (22 lbs) used for pullups in the Men’s Elite Division comes from an old standard used by some Soviet special forces units (Spetznatz). This standard specified that candidates would be able to do 18 strict pullups with 10kg of added gear.”
18 strict pullups with 10kg, that’s pretty bad ass.
I was reading through Josh Everett’s bio a few weeks ago and he has won this competition in his pre crossfit days.
Great video there from the CF Invitational. 2 weeks from now I’ll have my exams under my belt and it will be back to normal CF training and cyling for the Ring of Kerry at the start of July. Bring on the summer….
18 strict pull ups with 10kg – I’d get 5, maybe.
Just had a crack at this, got 11 reps with 10kg. Thumbless pullup grip (palms away), BW is 83kg atm.
Dunno about 18, I’ll see what I can do over the next few months though.
