CrossFit Ireland Fitness Invitational 2009

You, your friends and anyone you would like to bring along are cordially invited to the CrossFit Ireland Fitness Invitational on May 9th, in aid of Temple Street Children’s Hospital. We would love you to pop down and have a go, and see what this is all about. We have a fun, friendly and welcoming approach to fitness and believe there is nobody out there that wouldn’t benefit from being in just a little better shape.

Whether you are a weekend warrior, a seasoned gym buddy, footballer, rugby player, martial artists, bike racer or powerlifter we would love to have you down.

The day will run as follows:

9.00am: Registration of Athletes (anyone who shows up is called an Athlete in our eyes)
9.30am: Welcoming Talk – explanation of format and movement standards
10.00am: First Workout (approx 10 minutes)
11.00am: Second Workout (approx 10 minutes)
12:00: Lunch
1:00pm: Third Workout (approx 10 minutes)
2:00pm: Medal Ceremony
9:00pm: Dinner and Cocktails in Captain Americas

We have some intra club competitions and rivalry but that’s all part of the fun. As a incentive we are committing to putting €250 of our own money into the kitty for Temple Street if anybody can beat the coaches in the total events. We secretly hope someone does as we know there are a lot of people working out using CrossFit or a mix of it at home.

  1. Sounds pretty good. I’m raging I’m going to miss this now. Are workouts 1 & 2 going to be revealed the day before ala the games? The only reason I ask is that I can get to the gym the day before and I wouldn’t mind doing the WODs just so I can compare myself to everyone else.

If not its cool, its just a thought.

  2. Ah I know but I’d like to do them at roughly the same time as everyone else, just so when I whip old man Tony’s time (That’s one Will) I don’t have to listen to claims that I had extra time to prepare!

  3. Lot of interest over on boards. People really want to beat us.

Most likely we’ll post the workouts on the day before, along with our movement standards. Can I get everyone who is going to be down on the day to put there name down here or on the white board in the gym so we can get an idea of competitors and spectators (hecklers?)

  4. Who doesn’t, Ed? Chet asked me to take a vid of them so I threw on my FK.UK t-shirt while I was at it.

  5. Not sure how I feel about having a video of me hoovering floating around the internet, I’ve probably just lost some man-points.

  6. Some…….. I dont care if you finished 6th, your hoovering dude!!!

In other news this will be good craic and we can all have a laugh but lets not loose sight of the few quid we can all throw in AND the beering and eating later that night!!

  7. Tom loses some grammar points on your/you’re.

Let’s all remember that the Fitness Invitational is nothing more than a prelude to drunk Tom and Jeff later that night :D

  8. Wait, when did a hoover get introduced to CFI? I guess it’s true what they say–you can never go home again.

  9. Colm/Will
I’ll be there on the 9th.Whats the cost of registration/t-shirt etc? Will be back tomorrow

  10. Tony: 42.5kg, 13:59 as rx’d
    Jason: 42.5kg, 16:38 as rx’d
Damien: 42.5kg , 15:40 (knees as high as possible)
Tom: 45kg, 12:12 (knees to upper triceps – get those hips up damn you!)

  11. HAHA.

    Quality vid.

Colm busting out some heavy split snatches in a cool tee whilst Mr Walshe just goes about his business hoovering up.

    That’s made my day.
