  1. Morning Guys, Feeling a bit bashed today from the beating I got from the MMA guys on Saturday’s the only newbie there they felt it necessary to sub me every 60 seconds or so. Anyway tonight’s workout looks so easy (on paper). I’ll be down at 8 enjoy your working day.

  2. Scott, that’s par for the course when you’re beginning with MMA/BJJ, so don’t worry. In a few months you’ll be doing the same to new people.

  3. Scott, that happens to me when I roll with Blinky or Mark, don’t worry about it.

Just back from my first session with my oly shoes. Cannot believe the difference they make, Rip is right about how they should be the only piece of equipment you need to buy. Tonight’s WOD looks easy but I guarantee you’ll want to die by round 4.

  4. Huh, just realised the updated version of this post didn’t go out this morning. Sorry about that guys.

You’ll have photos and links galore tomorrow.

Scott, Ruairi and Bobby are right (though Bobby failed to mention how easily I tap him out as well :) ) In MMA/BJJ you get your ass handed to you a lot, and it’s just conscientious mat time that brings you along.

  5. You and your submissions Colm, when will you ever learn that BJJ isn’t about who wins or loses, its about who gives the best smack talk and winds the other guy up the most. Sadly for you my friend, I have the better smack talking game.

Now if I could only learn some proper submissions…

  6. BJ Penn had a bigger mouth than GSP my friend. We all saw how that one went…

  7. You see this is what I’m talking about, there’s not even one reference to my facial features or my personal hygiene in that rebuttal. The people love abuse, and being a fighter is all about pleasing your people.

    That man has it right.

  8. Oh and that video should be wfs, unless your boss is some form of jabroni.

  9. Here Bobby I see you mentioned a supplement shop, are you dabbling in the black arts??

Everytime you beat me at a wod its because your on steroids and I’m wolfing down too many chicken satays

  10. Love the new sig there Bobby.Colm was able to demo the North – South followed by the chickenwing on saturday as Will asked what it was.I do believe your famililar with this move !!

  11. I like it Reilly. This is what I’m talking about. Schoolyard tactics are far better than all this subtlety.

And Scott, yes I am quite familiar with said move. I’ll be down on saturday though and I can do a demo of the traditional armbar from guard, as tapped to by Colm.

  12. I’m still convinced that MMA terminology is made up on the spot, and the chicken wing demo was just an elaborate farce to cover Colm’s tracks.

  13. No no no Mr. Walshe. Moves such as the chicken wing, Jim sweep, Jimotine, Jim Choke and J Roll have a long and distinguished history.

  14. Anybody want to go surfing this month maybe down to lahinch.I really want to go and i want to go this month.Oh and bobby whats happening with the climbing. Is it this month?

  15. Scott, going climbing outdoors won’t happen until the summer at the earliest. I need to get back out and get comfortable both with being on the rock and handling a group of people again. I think Robbie was on about enrolling on a course in a climbing wall somewhere, I think that starts this month.

  16. Ruairi, Colm, Will

Ordered the DVDs. I’ll drop them in with Colm when they arrive.

  17. Tom, of course I’m on roids. Anyone who beats O’Reilly with the consummate ease that I did has to be on them.

  19. Hah. I’m doing pure strength training and I’m only 5kg ahead of the guys in the press. Boo.

I hate CrossFit’s whole progress thing, it makes me look bad.

  20. If its any consolation, Bobby, I did think about going onto SS there a few weeks ago… It looks satisfying.

  21. Yeah it has a manly feel to it alright. You get to Bench Press every second day, you just don’t get that type of enjoyment in CrossFit.

  22. You know what’s more satisfying, b*tchin Bobby on his home turf of UCD in front of Jim.

  23. Last night was good but it felt alot longer than the time up there, on my failed press there was a hilarious sneak bar tactic,

I got into a little trouble, so I just ducked under the bar, and put in a sort of high bar squat position, it was pretty suave I must say…..

  24. Dealift 5sets 5 reps on CFSB
