What, there’s no Happy Internet Cat?
“looower…”
Too much?
There is Kyle, I’m just behind the yellow bumper plate being serious!
So I apologize for the long post, but let’s face it, that’s pretty much all I do anyway. So here is an interesting conundrum. I’ve oft lamented as of late at the significant drop in my CF performance since moving to Utah. Drops have been drastic and in all aspects, metcons, max squats, muscle ups, tabatas, you name it.
So initially I thought it was the altitude and low carb diet. Although that didn’t really make sense for the drop in strength. Then for the last three days I’ve been very high carb (not the best carbs but that’s beside the point). I’ve also been here a month which I would have to think would be long enough to acclimate to the altitude. So I went in tonight expecting a great workout, but there was no change. It sucked and I sucked.
All other markers are good: mostly paleo (other than the last three days), lots of fish oil and magnesium, plenty of sleep (it turns out that left to my own devices I sleep an average of 10+ hours per night), I’m noticeably lighter, and before Big Rachel suggests it, not overtraining, in fact a little easier schedule than before.
So any thoughts on what’s going on? It feels like I’ve taken 3 months off and I’m just coming back and can’t seem to get the feel right. But I didn’t. I only took three days off. WOD’s are tough, times and numbers are sucking.
Undertraining? Has there been an increase in stress in your life? Stress has an amazing affect on the body, truly terrifying what it can induce.
Funnily enough i did a similar metcon to this on tues, only i did burpees and 21-15-9
By the way, crossfit fire – best named affiliate ever!
“In one last desperate attempt at saving the gym, Sue, with no regard for her own personal safety, bravely stabs the invading Giant Tom Robot in the throat with a sharpend barbell.
As the life fades from it’s madly-grinning countenence, Pixie and Jeff (knowing that it will fall to them to rescue the real Tom from the clutches of the evil mechanistic death cult that have imprisioned him) resolve to make themselves stronger in preparation.
To strike fear into the superstitious hearts of their enemies, they realise they will have to take on the form of a symbol…”
Always the scapegoat…….. ALWAYS
Walshe – Beautiful.
The Kyle – Simply, CrossFit Ireland is better for you.
At CFI you hold semi-mythical status as not just Marston, but “The Kyle”, all things to all men. You proudly display your prowess throughout the workouts urged on by your exceptional, exceptional coaches in Will and me. Urging ever forward lest R*Dawg overtake you, the pretender to your throne biting at your heels as always. The young squires of Pixie and Scott look on in awe, holding gleefully their The Kyle ™ Lunchboxes and hoping to be as broad as you some day. The delightful smiling Amy swooning with pleasure as beads of your sweat saturate the wooden floor.
Oh shit, that’s it, isn’t it? You ran in the rain and irrecoverably angered the CrossFit Gods, didn’t you?
This is Tom practicing for his half of the Tom vs Jeff Deathmatch poster. He’s got the ‘face to the right in profile’ bit down, but the grin is going to have to go. Then we stick Jeff in on the other side, and some flames in the background, maybe some logo using girders and other manly iconography and we’re good to go.
just to say again about my mates new night, The Saloon. It’s on like donkey kong tomorrow night from 8 in The Lower Deck, beside the Portabello. It’s only a fiver in (free if you’re a foreigner – bring your passport) and there’s a cracking band playing.
