What’s with the snow …. Its getting to be like Russia there….
Clearly it’s natures way of telling us to hit the vodka.
When did CrossFit Ireland get a new slogan (Great People. Great Fitness.)? Knowing me that’s always been there and I’ve just never noticed!
The novelty of the snow is quickly wearing off I must admit, it’s all nice and pretty when you’re sitting inside in the warmth looking out at it, but when you’ve got to trudge through it to get to work and can’t get to CrossFit it loses its appeal somewhat.
Van Dammit!
Pixie, that was only changed over the weekend. I was talking with Chet and he was laughing about everyone over at FK.UK getting their knickers in a twist about CrossFit this and that, cultish nature and so forth, and I said “What’s wrong with ‘Good People, Good Fitness?’
After hearing myself say that I thought, hmmm, that’s essentially what we’re all about at CFI. So I went to the Admin Panel and entered in “Great People. Great Fitness. Great Community” but that was too long and ran onto a second line so I got rid of the community part.
The way I see it, is “Great People. Great Fitness” is a snappy line that sums us up pretty well and is more inviting that “Forging Elite Fitness” – which might intimidate people. Whether it stays or not, only time will tell.
Vam Dammit indeed…

BTW can I still forge elite fitness?
Great fitness, great community…………
Yeh the word elite conjures up images of SWAT and the like,
Hopefully will make it down tonight. We have a very dodgy hill to contend with that stopped us getting down last night and also the fact that I hurt my leg when I came off the aul scooter going to work yesterday morn. Don’t know why I thought me and a battered scooter could make it into work in one piece ! Yea live and learn.
Really wana get down as overhead squats are my worse exercise and wana really nail them.
Goals for the year – being able to do the WOD with proper form and run more.
Oh the irony as there is nothing but sunshine in Utah.
I made it back down to crossfit801 last night and that place is nuts. We did jackie with teams of three and since there were 25 or so people I think it was a full hour before I started. The good news is that I didn’t embarrass myself again this time.
Yesterday was ‘up and overs’ which are up five flights up the firefighter training tower, over then back down with some kb swings and pullups in between. Tough but had some cool Backdraft or at least movie training montage feel to it.
Going to give the shoulder a rest tonight. It got a bit sore from pushing jerks last night…And its snowing again in town for the last 15 mins!
Colm we need a firefighting training tower ha ha..
i dunno, the image of SWAT appeals to the boy within, kinda liked it.
Did Grace at 50kg in 6.57 myself today. The 60kg just looked like too much.
Some realistic fitness advise here, surprising really cos it’s a pretty mainstream website.

Everyone’s been sent home early from work here. But fear not, classes still on tonight. 8 would be better if you’re making it down.
And no donuts in the car park or snowballs in the gym!
What about handbrake turns in the carpark??
Me and John actually found that snowball in the gym, true story
I’m stuck in work again. The whole of citywest is a carpark..even the carparks are well carparks. I gave up after 15 minutes of trying to get out of the one here.
Yeh the radio is telling me to stay here, loada pants really……. Might go and get drunk cos I’m stuck here
My plans didn’t happen ! Took ages to get home, even on the Luas, but I was the lucky one, cos as I write this Rob is on his 3rd hour on the M50!
Madness !
Hope all made it home safe and sound
Fair play to Robbie, Mike and Paul who managed to make it down this evening. I forgot to take a photo of the scores so I’ll have them up tomorrow night.
