Shouldn’t that be Noir Box, Shane?
I’m all for other people plugging in their ipod for a workout. But how would one measure the effacacy of music impacting on the wods?
By Kyle’s level of moaning, of course.
Kyle is holidaying in Carbland by the sounds of things. Mind you, if I went to Italy I think I’d do the same thing.
Shane- I e-mailed the dude who seems to have more positive reviews (Akkerman) and asked him whether he would put on a two-day course for a group like ours, and if so how many people would be required and what the costs would be. He does mad week-long courses but frankly that might be a bit close to actual TEOTWAWKI (15 burpee prize if you know what that means) as opposed to weekend fun.
I would offer that Kyle’s level of moaning is objectively measurable on several variables included frequency, volume, an severity.
Also Dolly Parton is generally required listening for Fran.
Rauiri–I was, then back to work but my family is in town, and I’m off again tomorrow. I thought we would make it down tonight, but it’s just not in the cards. I haven’t felt like such a slug in recent memory.
I had this problem recently, trying to find music to run to. At the start I thought dance music, something fast to keep me energized but that didn’t work. 5 minutes in I’d be knackered because I couldn’t keep up with the beat! I found that using music more suited to my natural running pace was better. I settled on using The National, Groove Armada (the slower stuff), Zero 7 etc.
So when it comes to the WoDs, I imagine it’ll depend what it is. If you’re looking to break 5 mins on fran, by all means stick on Voodoo People by The Prodigy, but if you’re looking to grind out a Cindy you might want some tunes that’ll give you a steady burn throughout the 20 mins.
How many of us actually remember what music was playing during a WoD?
Shane
Ruairi,
TEOTWAWKI, and I feel fine. Time I had some time alone.
Cracker,
So what is your return date to the the hallowed cracked floor of CF Ireland.
I’m really enjoying the fact that Kyle now refers to himself in the third person!
I’m a fan of metal music myself for working out, more than anything because it angrys up the blood!
However Dolly Parton and the one and only Johnny Cash are always welcome. But to be honest as Shane stated earlier how often does one notice the music after the first minute or so of the workout? I’m usually spending most of my time concentrating on trying not to die.
That weekend survivalist training sounds frickin’ awesome, I’d definitely go if the current job situation wasn’t a bit dodgy.
Big Shane with the answer before I even had the chance to ask the question. Well done.
Colm, hard to say but probably next Tuesday. It’s a long shot but is there a team AM tomorrow?
And Kyle has always referred to himself in the third person. He just dropped the The for the sake of brevity.
I’m a fan of drum and bass, jungle, electro, rock. Anything that’s high tempo with emphasis on music/rhythm rather than lyrics. It’s gotta be fast and loud.
I’m so happy i have an ipod again, no more kanye west re-mixes, U2 or any other rubbish gym music
For workout music at home (in the gym I don’t mind so much) I listen to AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine, Metallica and stuff like that.
Good work from Tommy and Shane tonight in the 7pm class! I think Tommy found the change of pace from starting strength to CrossFit rather interesting. Kudos to him for chewing gum all the way through the metcon.
