  1. Hi Shane

Would you have a link? Sorry, not sure what funcy is and did check in google, thanks :)

  2. Big Shane – The only appropriate adjective for how out of shape I was pre-crossfit is “ragingly”.

My first workout was that 30min Fran in late October ’06, so I’ll be coming up for 2 years of CFing in a little while. I’ve been zoning since around the end of week one (it helps. a lot).

Kyle – Wait, wait, wait…carbs are bad for you?!? When did this happen?

  3. Re: Potassium affecting your heart.

True, there’s an outside chance it might do so if you were to grind up an entire bottle, dissolve it, put it in a syringe and inject it directly into your heart.

Go to any health food shop if you need it and they should have it. It’ll be in 99mg tabs. I wouldn’t bother unless you think you need it though.

  4. So far I’ve zoned properly today. Not as much work as I thought… a bit of mental maths but that’s getting easier. And so far I’m not hungry (which is something I’d heard a few people complain about).

  5. Can’t make it to the gym tonight, squeezed in this metcon-

    21-15-9

    50kg clean & jerk
    25kg kettlebell swing

    8:30

Considered doing the cleans at 60kg but wasn’t sure that it wouldn’t just turn into a ‘slow Grace with added heavy kettlebell swings’ so did 50kg and made sure I had good form. All nice push jerks.

  6. Shane- I asked Will and Colm that too. Turns out that you can buy these little kitchen jugs in Tesco which have 1/2 cup and 1 cup measurments on the side. About four euro, very handy.

If it’s any consolation I wasn’t firing on all cylinders on that metcon, I definitley moped around the bar and generally slacked off. Possibly last night, or maybe I’m just lazy… Anyway, I’ve moved to a 3-on-1-off split so tomorrow is a rest day. Then Saturday morning and on Sunday I’m heading out to Will’s place to flip some tires if anyone would care to join me (assuming we’re still on for that, Will?).

BTW, am I right in thinking that a 330ml bottle of beer is 2 (unfavourable) carb blocks or does that seem way too low?

  7. Some great posting today, must admit I really enjoyed some of them.

To throw in my own random link I came across this article about Jason Statham (Transporter 1 & 2, Death Race etc) who apparently while not being an “official” CrossFitter seems to pretty much do CrossFit style workouts. But anyway the article is from from Men’s Health (US) http://www.menshealth.com/cda/article.do?site=MensHealth&channel=fitness&category=fitness.tips&conitem=f35335cb1abd4110VgnVCM20000012281eac____&page=1 and it is simply ridiculous, for a good laugh watch the video of the men’s health guy “demonstrating” the workout, his version of a Burpee is hilarious, I’d say he nearly broke a sweat doing it!! :)

  8. Jason Statham rocks! Transporter 2, Crank, and now Death Race are pushing the boundaries of balls-to-the-wall action without regard for plot or logic!

Quiet night up in the gym tonight, just Shane H down. And doggarnit, I wanted everyone to improve their pressing after the cert.
