Workout of the Day:
Front Lever Progression
5 holds at your stage of the progression. Record total time
Split Jerk
3-3-3-3-3
Post time and weights to comments.
It’s amazing how far you have to go to get programming advice as useful as ours – lift progressively heavier things. That’s it, really.
Fixing the Split Jerk, Coach Burgener…[wmv][mov]

Anybody else up for a trip up north in September to check out Jonny and Helen’s new box *ahem* facility?
Weird- we haven’t done a split jerk strength day since October last year, is that right?
Kyle- My arm could be twisted, depending on dates.
Figured it was pretty much a given that we were heading up, there’s no excuse for missing a gym-warming on the same island as you!
Hey Colm, I’m not on the Zone!
Got up to 60kg on the jerks. On an unrelated note, i’m trying and failing to learn how to kip. Any hints or advice would be appreciated.
Kyle – I get jokes.
Eoghan, without seeing you I have no idea where to start on learning the kip, and what cues will work for you. I presume you’ve looked at the vids on CF.com? Adrian Bozman (sp?) has a good progression, are you going through them?
Also, I’ve noticed that on days where I’ll post gymnastic progressions you don’t post times. Are you just ignoring this part of the workout? Seems a shame, given the benefits that come from gymnastic training.
No, i’m trying them, did it today even, but didn’t write times down. for the kip I’ve watched the videos but i just can’t get the hip drive.
Cool, glad you’re trying them. We’re working on a way of making the gymnastic movements scalable and scorable so people can see their progress. We’ll keep tweaking it and see how we go.
What got the kip for me, and credit to Miles over at CF West Sussex here, was to concentrate on driving my head through my arms as far as possible, and then pulling it back. When I did this, my hips took care of themselves. This is what also got Dan his kip (Karl & Mark in CF Manchester helped him)
Now, all this talk of kipping has made me miss my pull up station, time to make some calls…
Thanks, I’ll try that tomorrow.
Sorry to hijack your site, but does anybody own a travel book for Italy that they would be willing to loan? Trying to book a hotel and the folks at work were no help at all. Including the Italian I work with.
i am ashamed of you Kyle i thought i would be the first person you would have considered to ask for a travel book of Italy. I believe i could have one handy i will let you know.
Good WOD tonight. There’s something very satisfying about lifting heavy shit overhead and equally satisfying finding your true max knowing that one more kilo and it’s not moving.
Dan–yes, that would be great. Will you be making to the gym anytime soon?
No scores up for this WOD, but from what I remember I did
60-65-70-70-70
Stayed on the 70s because I wasn’t evenly distrbuting the weight when I was dropping into the split, too much weight was loading on the front leg. By the end of the worksets I’d got more balance.
Left the camera in the gym so no scores, will post tonight.
