In relation to training for sports! Dedication and commitment will of course make you better. But you will never be as good as someone who has natural talent. Practice makes improvement only, not perfection. I agree people with god given talent are a rarity.
Take boxing as an example. “Punchers are born not made” Famous Cus D’amato quote but its true. Doesnt really matter how hard an average joe trains at boxing if he aint a knockout artist he will never be!
Liam,
I’ve decided not to entertain your comments on this site in future. You are more than welcome to train with us at any time, but until you do so, your comments will be deleted.

Lasted about 10 pullups before i had to do jumping ones, my time was 24.59 Thought I might get 20 but the pullups took about ten minutes. Interesting point that anaerobic stuff is much better if you eat carbs. A small justification for my non-paleo ways!
Lagging behind somewhat, I did yesterday’s CrossFit Games Heavy Deadlift Workout.
5 rounds
5 125kg deadlifts
10 burpees
12.23 as RX’d
I had hoped to make this sub 10 minutes, but that prospect vanished off into the sunset about halfway through round 4.
i’ll throw in my 2 cents worth i suppose
Following a programe like crossfit will make you very fit and strong, and following a strict Zone or Paleo diet will in all likelyhood make you stronger and better, but you i dont think you can just train yourself to excel at a sport.
If i had dedicated myself entirely to rugby from the age of 15, really hit crossfit a few years, could i have gone pro? Maybe, but i would never be as good as someone like brian o’driscoll. He has that innate ability that a 2min Fran will never give you. However, a dedicated trainer will definitely be better than a lazy talented one.
I think this is why ball sports (football, GAA, rugby etc) have more widespread popularity than say weightlifting because weightlifting requires a huge commitment and finely honed techniques rather than skill. It is something that almost anyone with enough dedication can do. This, http://youtube.com/watch?v=KzvnexjWJYg however is not something you can teach
having re-read my post i must apologise whole heartedly for my atrocious grammar and the many typos
