It should be noted that I left the zapper for the gate in the gym yesterday, I’ll try hop the fence before you guys get here.

Birthday Goals

So, while I do detest the passing of another year and wish I could skip the day, I had set some goals for the year, and one of them was a bodyweight overhead squat. It would be nice to have a bodyweight of around 70Kg, but I’m only human, and feck it, I like chocolate, so I’m somewhere around the 75-77 mark. So 75 was the goal, and if I hit that, then I’d be brazen and attempt 77.5Kg.

70Kg – A little high! Arrghhh! This is worrying, as I was pretty sure I broke it (Bday OHS 1). So I try again, and hit i, thankfully (Bday OHS 2).

75Kg – bodyweightish! – probably the nicest squat so I figure I should go for 77.5Kg, which is closer to real bodyweight I’m slightly ashamed to say (BDay OHS 3). This feels solid, the bar goes up and I hit the squat perfectly. Only, too high!!! (Bday OHS 4)

Attempt Number Two – Bar doesn’t go up as smoothly as I like, and by now a few more CrossFitters have shown up, so now my failures are public, and I only really like it when others see my successes :) After, I fall on my bottom (Bday OHS 5)

Attempt 6 (Bday OHS 6) – Success! Bar felt a little wobbly but I’m told I break parallel. I throw down the weight in victory. Damn straight, I’m the man! Wait, I didn’t load the extra 3.75Kg on my side of the bar when we re – racked it! Dog garn it!

And finally, success. (Bday OHS 7)! Roll on Bodyweight Snatch for Christmas. Maybe I’ll look to cut some weight…

    Extra strict Fran: 6:07
    Deadlifts/Burpees: 4:27
    1.5km run: 6:34

    Total: 17:08

    Looks like that would have put me somewhere around 100th place at the crossfit games…

  4. And 30 70kg full squat clean and jerks in 7:34.

    That was a harsh 36 hours.
