Best of luck to Paddy – who’s off to Australia for the summer, and hoping to train with CrossFit Newcastle
Shane O has offered to paint a mural for CrossFit Ireland. Here’s some examples of his previous work
Any suggestions for a mural?

Sweet! Thanks Shane!
How about Robert A Heinlein with the “specialisation is for insects” quote?
Or maybe Rip with “strong people are harder to kill than weak people, and more useful in general”
Whats up with the shoes ? Aliens ?
Rips strong people quote is class.
Rip was the first thing that sprung to mind, but he might think we’re a bit weird if at some point he comes over for a seminar and there’s a mural of him on the wall.
I like Will’s Heinlein idea… ‘Specialisation is for insects’ also sums up the CrossFit ideology. There are some good photos of Heinlein with his little pencil moustache floating around.
Leprachauns drinking guinness. Leprachauns leapfrogging over each other. Leprachauns doing thrusters with rocks. And a really fat leprachaun in the backround eating a burger giving the thumbs up.
or,

Couldn’t really find a decent photo of Coach, but this one made me laugh out loud:

Actually, on reflection, I think we should have a mural of Kyle saying “He is CLEARLY not my man”
anything from Vince Lombardi, for example
“Dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you’re willing to pay the price.”
“Fatigue makes cowards of us all.”
“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will”
Ok, this one might be a bit tricky but I think it would be cool to have a sweat angel—any of the crossfit Ireland T-shirts (I’m partial to the sledgehammers one) with the CFI name in reverse lettering and the outline of a T-shirt. I forget what the tag line is, but its something like every time someone does a WOD a sweat angel gets its wings.
A few examples: http://board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=18206
26.5, again pullups a major problem. Im finished my job in the phoenix park now though so i can start getting serious about crossfit again.
After today’s pressing thread (and due to a lack of pull-up bar) I decided to do a press WOD.
Shoulder press 1-1-1-1-1
Push Press 3-3-3-3-3
Push Jerk 5-5-5-5-5
50, 50, 52.5, 55(new PR), 55
62.5, 62.5, 65, 67.5(new PR), 67.5
62.5, 62.5, 62.5, 60, 60
All cleaned off the ground. Happy with the PRs on the shoulder press and push press (especially doing them in this context). The push jerk figures are shoddy, I should have been closer to 70, but I was burned out and I was struggling to rack the bar after each rep by then.
You guys are more than welcome for the mural, whatever it turns out to be, tis my pleasure. Crossfit got me out of a serious 3 year rut so doing an ol mural is the least I can do. one thought I had this evening which could be good is the Tyler Durden/Jack quote from Fight Club – “I felt sorry for guys packed into gyms, trying to look like how Calvin Klein or Tommy Hilfiger said they should.” and a nice stylized pic of Tyler himself something like this one – http://www.spraypaintstencils.com/a-zlistings/jack-fight-club-image.gif Anyway just an idea, I’ll go with whatever the general consensus is.
Damn- that’s a good idea, Shane…
How about from the indomitable Richard Marcinko
“Thou hast not to like it, thou hast just to do it”
