Here’s that thread I was talking about: http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=17574&highlight=links+sticky&page=2
Check out the word document posted by Ryan Atkins about half way down, enough reading in there to keep ya going for weeks. No idea why it isn’t linked from the CF faq…
I’m all pull-upped out until at least the middle of next week.
Thanks Will, I’ll check it out. Ryan Atkins was the guy I went to lunch with while in The OC.
Ruairi – 24:59
Will – 9:15
Great example of how a workout can be a blitzer or a grinder depending on your strength level and technical ability.
Man!!!
I just bought myself a set of rings… Even a push up on them is incredibly demanding… I can do sets of 40 dips on parralel bars normally.. I’m struggling to even hold myself at the top phase of a dip on the rings…. It’s unbelievably humbling christ.. Great investment though..
Are you guys performing many ring dips consecutively?? If you’s are fair play….
I think Will had actually completed the workout before I was on to my set of 15….
Did my version of JT today:
15-12-9 of
Negative Handstand Pushups
Ring Dips
Pushups
20:15. This compares to 46:54 on January 5th (!). Nothing like doing a glycotic workout when you’re not glycogen depleted.
Anton – congrats on taking your first step into a larger world
Try and get up on the rings as many times a day as possible, at first just practise holding yourself in the support position until you start shaking. With that many bar dips you’re definitely strong enough to do a good few on the rings, it’s just a question of training your nervous system to hold to you steady. Let us know when you get your first muscle up!
Cheers Will.. Yep no wonder gymnasts are the beasts they are fuck me the stuff they do is unreal!!!!!! Yep when I bought the rings I was hoping to get stuck in because conventional bodyweight training was always relatively easy for me.. But my god the stability is the issue and I have done years of work on the Fitball but it in no way prepares you for the “RINGS”… I can actually do 6 bar muscle ups in a row believe it or not.. Yet to try it on the rings… You should try horizontal bar or ring muscle ups initially.. They are done with you’re partner holding your ankles and when you get over the bar or rings you end up in an apex arse in the air and return to the start… If you havent seen them I suggest buying Karl Gotch’s conditioning for combat sports….
Anton..
Arse in the air? Is it anything like one of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj48SlxgU1Q ?
Except maybe with two hands…
No Will, Bit too advanced that version.. I must find a link and send it on but people should start with the horizontal version first they are still incredibly demanding… You should buy Karl Gotch’s dvd’s conditioning for combat arts 1&2 budovideos sell them he’s an exercise legend!!!
Think I found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNWHM6aAius
Yes Will, You found it fair play try them by the bucket full first then progress….
