The CrossFit Journal is a digital monthly dedicated to functional fitness. Articles include capstone documents of the CrossFit concept and readily understood how-to classics by contributing coaches, trainers, and athletes. Suscription is $25 yearly, which works out at approximately €20.

A copy of Men’s Health, by comparison, costs nearly €7 per issue, about 4 times as much.

*shudders* I actually bought a few issues of Men’s Health back in the day. Another few months and I probably would have started waxing.

Hi Colm thank you for replying in relation to where I can purchase rings..

I seen during the month of september you had 2 exercises I hadnt heard off before.. Fiannas and wrestler shuffles could you explain both to me if you get the time.. Thank You..

Also I am around the same weight as yourself and have the same genetic makeup both ectommorphs. I was just wondering what ur 1 rep max deadlift is if you dont mind answering it?? mine is 145kgs.. So as I have some idea as to where I am at, at the moment.. I am 6ft 1in and weigh 160lbs would you rate this as being good??

Also Colm is it ok for me to pop over for a training session at some stage? As I would be very anxious to see the setup over there..

    Regards Liam.

    Hey Liam,

Sorry I missed the reply a few days ago. If you head over to http://www.fiannagym.com I think they’ve a vid of their exercise. It’s essentially a burpee with an extra push up thrown in. I’ll do up a vid of the wrestler shuffles.

Last time I did 1RM of deadlifts it was 130Kg, felt my grip strength was the limiting factor, must check that again. As for whether your weight is good, good for what? Weight by itself is a terrible indication of health or fitness.

We’ve an Open Day this Saturday (1-3) you could call out to, or any session for that matter.

    Hi Colm,

Did you ever get a reply from david easton from crosssfit scotland? If so is there gonna be a seminar or open day? sent you a reply to your e-mail but you never sent me a date back, see you have an open day this weekend, when wud be the best time to come down, wud be travelling down on the train from the north and checking into connelly station, cud i get directions from there? are you within a reasnable distance for a taxi, thanks michael

  5. Colm says:

    Hey Michael,

Been chatting to Davie but doesn’t seem like he’ll be over before Christmas so no seminar, you’ll just have to make do with us paddies :)

From Connelly hop on the LUAS and go all the way to the Square. (40 minute journey, The Square is the last stop)From The Square it’s about a 25 minute walk, or you could grab a taxi and ask him to take you to Power City. If you look at the map you’ll see we’re just down the road from them.

  6. Ruairi says:

If it helps, I’ve got a car, I don’t mind doing a run to the LUAS and back (in the name of Crossfit).

Been doing some of the older WODs that I missed for the past few days, since I’ve been in Donegal. Yesterday did 6 x 4 min rounds of Thai padwork- absolutely destroyed me. Paddy made us do 10 burpee variations during the ‘rest period’ between rounds.

  7. Will Walshe says:

“As many rounds as possible in 20 minutes:

Pick up travellers from LUAS stop”

I’m picturing a load of grannys and random passengers standing around the gym looking confused while me and Ruari are half passed-out on the floor with the cars still running outside.

LOL! It’s one way to spread the word
